Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in overweight patients, when prescribed diet and exercise alone are not sufficient for adequate glycemic control.
- In adults, Metformin can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin.
- In children aged 10 years and older and adolescents, Metformin can be used as monotherapy or in combination with insulin. A reduction in diabetes-related complications has been demonstrated in overweight adult patients with type 2 diabetes treated with Metformin as first-line therapy after diet failure.
