Azithromycin Tablets 1g

Azithromycin is indicated for infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is indicated for lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia, as well as skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and upper respiratory tract infections, including sinusitis and pharyngotonsillitis (penicillin is generally the drug of choice for treating Streptococcus pyogenes pharyngitis and for rheumatic fever prophylaxis). Azithromycin is generally effective in eradicating streptococci from the oropharynx; however, there are currently no available data establishing the efficacy of Azithromycin in the subsequent prevention of rheumatic fever. In sexually transmitted infections, Azithromycin is indicated for both men and women in the treatment of uncomplicated genital infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. It is also indicated for the treatment of chancroid due to Haemophilus ducreyi. It is also indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated genital infections caused by non-multidrug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Concurrent infection with Treponema pallidum should be excluded.
